Final Design

For my final design i made a few slight changes such as changing the text to white on my map as it was blending in with the background colour, also i expanded on the title giving more details to my data collection. I also made the top circle on my datanet that represents the first bus stop larger to show people that this is the first point.

I added text next to each graph to tell people what each graph represents and what they are about.

I created the designs onto illustrator so i could see how each of them looks with my graphs on them.

I drew out a few thumbnails of potential design i could use. I wanted each graph to be different from one another so i tried to vary each graph.

I took my drawings and produced my ideas in illustrator. I didn't make many changes, although i did add colour to the designs.

Data Collection Results

I chose to collect my data on my notepad as it was quick. I used a tally chair to collect information such as people with mobile phones or headphones etc. However i didn't really know how i was going to collect the data for which stop each person goon and off. In the end i came up with an idea to describe everyone who got on and off the bus, such as a distinct feature. After i would then match each description, allowing me to see when they got on and off.

Using Microsoft word i put my data into graphs so i cab see the data more clearly.

Now i had a rough idea of what i wanted to do i filled out the proposal form stating that i was going collect data from a bus journey, taking notes on which stops each passenger gets on and off, if there male, female, are wearing headphones etc.

I did a range of research looking at the different group of graphs from datanets to datanoids. I also looked at what colour schemes people used and how they laid out their designs.

Final designs

We decided that collecting the colours of passing cars would be a good idea because the task itself is simple, and at the same time you can get a lot of data out it. Also whilst collecting the data We decided to gather extra data about what gender was driving each car.

With the data collected, I decided to present the data in a pie chart for two reason. One being that pie charts are clear and simple to understand. The second is that pie charts are easy to manipulate and good for creating designs.
